What Carregador Beach is Like

Carregador Beach in Alcossebre is long and wide, with fine, comfortable sand, ideal for walking barefoot, playing, or planting your umbrella without worrying too much about space. It’s not one of those narrow beaches where you feel like you’re stuck to everyone; here, you can breathe!

The water is usually very calm, with gentle waves that make it perfect for swimmers of all ages. And yet, it has three lifeguard stations.

In general, the sea here is quite clean and clear, especially on windless days. Early in the morning and late in the afternoon, it’s especially pleasant for strolling along the shore or swimming for a while.

When to Enjoy It and What Atmosphere You'll Find Here

The best time to enjoy Carregador Beach is from June to September, when the water is warmer and all services are running at full capacity.

July and August are the busiest months, but even so, Carregador maintains life throughout the year, because autumn and spring are also great, even if only to take a walk and enjoy the views. So, if you prefer something quieter, we recommend visiting in May or October; they are very pleasant months, with fewer people and milder temperatures.

Facilities, Access, and Parking: A Very Convenient Beach

Part of the charm of this beach is how easy it makes everything. Carregador Beach has showers, toilets, shaded areas, lifeguard service, beach bars, hammock rentals, and wooden walkways that facilitate access from the promenade.

It is also one of the most accessible beaches in Alcossebre. Getting to the sand is no mystery: the promenade runs along the entire beach and connects it with Romana Beach on one side and Playa de las Fuentes—one of the Blue Flag beaches of Castellón—on the other. You can walk from many points in the area, without needing to touch the car.

And if you do it on two or four wheels, you’ll find several public car parks in the surrounding area, both next to the promenade and in the interior streets. In summer, it’s normal for it to be quite busy by mid-morning, so the ideal is to come early—before 11:00 AM—or opt for the afternoon, when the sun goes down.

What to See Near Carregador Beach

One of the great advantages of Carregador Beach is that, without going too far, you have a lot of interesting places to see. If you feel like combining beach with nature and good views, one of the must-sees is the Torre Badum, an old watchtower located on the cliffs of the Sierra de Irta Natural Park. From here, the views of the coastline are spectacular.

If you like more secluded coves, write down Cala Blanca, a small sandy beach with very clear waters ideal for snorkeling. Also nearby is Playa del Pebret, perfect if you are looking for a somewhat wilder and less urban environment than Carregador.

The coast of Alcossebre also has its own icons. One of them is the Alcossebre Lighthouse, which has become one of the most photographed points in the area. And, inland, the Ermita de Santa Lucía will give you one of the most complete views of the coast. In addition, the Route of the Giant Chairs, with the Orange Tourist Chair at the head, will allow you to see several municipalities on a very photogenic panoramic route.

Also note the Alcossebre market, which is set up every Tuesday from June to October—from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. It is perfect for taking a walk at sunset and looking for something to take home among stalls of crafts, summer clothes, and locally produced products.

And, if you are one of those who are not satisfied with lying in the sun, from this area you can connect with several hiking trails in Castellón, especially within the Sierra de Irta. These are paths that run between pine trees, Mediterranean scrub, and stretches of coastline with sea views.
