The Orange Tourist Chair has become one of those places that start circulating on social media and, before you know it, end up on your list of places to see on the Mediterranean coast. And for good reason. This enormous structure, as simple as it is striking, is located near Benicàssim —in Castellón— and has become a point of reference for those looking for a different photo.

The funny thing is that, although it is just a giant chair, it has something that hooks you: the color, the contrast with the landscape, the perspective, and the fact that it is placed in a spot where the sea and the surroundings lend themselves to taking really cool photos. That’s why more and more people are visiting it, climbing up to it, or detouring for a while to see it in person.

Come on, we’ll tell you all the details to come and see it.

What the Orange Tourist Chair is Like

It’s giantfour meters highand it’s designed so you can sit on it, climb on it, or simply use it as a natural frame to take a few photos. Since its installation, it began to go viral and appear on Instagram, TikTok, and in a lot of travelers’ reels who were passing through Benicàssim. There must be a reason, right?

And if you look closely, its location is no accident. It is placed at a point from which you can see part of the coast of Benicàssim, the nearby roads, and some of the mountains inland. In other words, a place designed for you to stop, enjoy, and, by the way, take the photo of the trip.

And wait, because the Orange Tourist Chair was not born as a simple decorative element. It is part of a project to create photographic points and original viewpoints along the coast of Castellón. The idea of placing a large structure, easy to recognize, and with a color that would attract attention from afar… worked. So much so that there are seven in total that you can visit: blue, red, pink, yellow, green, and white. Ah! And the orange one, which is our favorite of the famous «Route of the 7 Chairs».

How to find the giant chairs in Castellón

The famous giant chairs of Castellón are part of a tourist project designed to create striking and very photogenic viewpoints spread throughout several towns in the interior and on the coast. Each one has a color, a different location, and its own charm.

These are the seven chairs that make up the complete route:

  • Yellow chair in Vall d’Alba
  • Red chair in Vilafamés
  • Pink chair in La Torre d’en Doménec
  • White chair in Les Coves de Vinromà
  • Blue chair in Vilanova d’Alcolea
  • Green chair in Benlloc

Ah! And the star is missing: the Orange Tourist Chair, which is located in Cabanes. And yes, getting to it is very easy. You just have to take the road that connects Benicàssim with Cabanes and, in a few minutes, you will see the signposted detour that leaves you practically next to it.

Tips for getting the most out of the Orange Chair

If you want your visit to the Orange Tourist Chair to be perfect, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. The first is the light. The best time to visit it is spring or autumn, when the weather is good, there are fewer people, and the colors of the landscape stand out much more in the photos. Summer is also a good idea, but if you can avoid the central hours of the day, better. As for the moment, the first hours of the morning and sunset are the most photogenic.

Another tip is not to just take the frontal photo. Move the frame, go down to the road, surround the structure, and try from different angles. The location will allow you to play a lot with the perspective and take very different photos in a matter of minutes.
