Peñíscola and beach are synonymous with quality, well-being, and guaranteed satisfaction. If you travel to this tourist town in Castellón, you will enjoy formidable Mediterranean bathing areas. But which are the best beaches in this town?
Playa Norte in Peniscola
With 5 kilometers of sand, crystal-clear waters, and the imposing presence of Pope Luna’s castle in its southern area, it is a wonderful place. Without a doubt, it is one of the best family beaches in our country.
It stands out for the quality of its waters, the available services, and its proximity to the historic center. It has several national and international certifications and distinctions, and its water sports offerings are magnificent.
The Playa Norte of Peñíscola is, due to its atmosphere, quality, and surroundings, ideal for all audiences, from families with children to couples and young people.
Playa Sur of Peñíscola
More tranquil and charming, the Playa Sur of Peñíscola offers extremely calm waters due to the shelter of the breakwater. It is a true natural pool, perfect for spending time with young children.
It lacks waves, and you can walk many meters into the sea without losing your footing. Additionally, with its fine sand and 850 meters of coastline, it is located at the foot of the walls.
Las Viudas Beach
Small and perky, with 110 meters in length, it surprises with the warmth of its waters and the tranquility it provides. Although it is in the very heart of the city, it is a good place for couples in love.
Cala Del Moro
Less than 3 kilometers south of Pope Luna’s castle, we can enjoy this charming cove with easy access.
It measures 40 by 10 meters (length by width), looks like a private beach, and has pebble sand. It is a paradise-like place, perfect for falling in love with the walled views of Peñíscola in the background.
Pebret and Russo Beaches
These two small beaches in the Sierra de Irta Natural Park are next to each other, 10 kilometers from the castle. They have the finest sand in the entire park and possess a sophisticated natural character. Their waters, moreover, allow you to fully enjoy the Mediterranean essence.
Pebret is located in one of the few existing dunes in the area. For flora enthusiasts, the sea spurge and sea daffodil are among its charms.
Nudist Beaches in Peniscola
We can also find interesting nudist beaches in Peñíscola. Thus, it is possible to bathe naked, especially in the surroundings of the Sierra de Irta Natural Park.
There are, in particular, two recommended places: Cala L’Aljub and Cala Argilaga.
Cala L’Aljub
Less than 5 kilometers separate the center of Peñíscola from this cove. It combines gravel and golden sand, so you will need good footwear. It surprises, however, with its tranquility and low influx of people.
Bathers feel at ease here, despite its small dimensions: 50 meters long x 10 meters wide. It only has, in terms of services, a parking lot with 50 spaces.
It has a rugged character, provides a certain privacy, and evokes a charming calm at all times.
Cala Argilaga
Although it belongs to Peñíscola, it is closer to Alcocebre. Its distinctive features are serenity and disconnection. It is not very crowded, perhaps because it lacks services. Therefore, it is a solitary option with glamour which, for beginners in this practice, is highly recommended.
Dog Beach in PeñíScola
If the bathing areas of Peñíscola are lacking in anything, it is precisely in this aspect. There is no dog beach in Peñíscola specifically designed for them. In fact, in the main beaches of the city, dogs are not allowed.
If you want to swim with your pet, the option is to go to the coves in the surroundings of the Sierra de Irta Natural Park. Although regulations require them to be kept on a leash at all times, you can enjoy a swim with your dog as these are less crowded areas.
There is a specific dog-friendly beach in the neighboring town of Benicarló. From the center, you can reach it by car in just 10 minutes. It’s called El Barranquet and presents, however, a significant drawback. It’s full of stones and shells, so the risk of cuts on feet and dog paws is high. If you’re going, remember that it’s important to equip yourself with water shoes and canine protectors.
Great Accommodations near PeñíScola Beaches
This wonderful tourist enclave is perfectly equipped with all kinds of charming accommodations, exquisite services, excellent value for money, and very varied locations.
The Peñíscola Playa urbanization, for example, offers studios and apartments located 100 meters from the sea. Argenta, El Paraíso and Residencial Nautic are also ideal alternatives for enjoying its beaches.
In summary, Peñíscola beach awaits us all with its countless attractions and services. Crystal clear waters, water sports, tranquility, beauty, and fun are guaranteed.
